6/2/08 4:05 PM
This is a complete step by step how to video showing how to download and install ICA client on Ubuntu 8.04 version. Please see my other demo video http://citrix.utipu.com/app/tip/id/2615/ for how to use the client See my blog for more information http://community.citrix.com/blogs/citrite/ruiguoy/2008/06/19/How+to+install+and+use+Citrix+ICA+client+on+Linux
You either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player.
Get the latest Flash player
Notes:
  • Go to Citrix download site to download the correct version of ICA client
  • Note that I am running Ubuntu on a x86 platform. If your Ubuntu runs on ARM platform, you will need to download the ARM version. The clients require OpenMotif 2.2.x. I will explain how to get it later
  • I saved the installation package on my desktop. You can save it to another directory
  • Extract to a directory.
  • Open the directory which contains the extracted files. install.txt contains installation instructions
  • start a terminal to install the ICA client
  • navigate to the directory that contains the extracted files
  • run setupwfc to install. You don't have to be a privileged user to install. However you will need to use sudo command to install as a privileged user in order to enable desktop (PNAgent) integration.
  • follow the on screen instructions
  • Press enter to accept the default installation location
  • installation completed
  • Test ICA client
  • It didn't run. Why? Remember the openmotif requirement listed on the client download page? motif library is not included in the default installation. Let's install it next
  • search and install open motif libaray using Synaptic Package Manager
  • finished open motif installation. Let's launch ICA client again
  • I will show you how to use this client in a separate video
